    Hi,
I currently have WP 1.5 on my site but I wish to update it through cpanel.
What are the chances of something going terribly wrong during the update? or is it something that always works smoothly?

I would strongly suggest using an FTP client and following the instructions here:

Ahh..through Fantastico? What version do they have there? 2.0? 2.0.2 just got released, so you might want to go to that.

    Regards

    yes Fantastico =)
They have version 2.0.1 ready and I currently have 1.5.1.3 installed.

I guess after I switch to 2.0.1 they'll come with the latest version too after a while.

So...it's safe to do it through fantastico?
    (with plugins disabled)

I've never had a problem with fantastico. Take that for what it's worth.
