updating the plugin took down my site and database

    After i update the plugin, i couldn’t access my site. I’m running kloxo and cent OS 5, kloxo did gave an error “error establishing database connection”. Only way i could get up my site again was when i restarted mysql via ssh.
    Right now, it’s impossible for me to delete the plugin via ftp or wordpress.
    Can you please tell me how to do it?
    as that update really messed up my site theme too. I can see posts all messed up from time to time.
