Specifically what were you trying to update on it?
We were updating: “About Me”, “Current Location”, “WordPress Origin Story”. I’m betting it was the “About Me” field that was the problem. (https://profiles.wordpress.org/wishlistdotcom/profile/edit/group/1/) Thanks for the help!
Try updating all but About Me, then update About Me separately if that doesn’t work.
If it still fails, let me know exactly what’s failing, and specifically what you’re trying to enter.
Right now, If I try to update any field with simple text, it caused an error. If I try to update without changing any fields, it caused the error. I was trying to populate our profile with:
“About Me”: Since going live on February 18, 1998, WishList.com has become the go-to platform where millions collect and share stuff they love or want for a special occasion. Today, we extend our innovative functionality to retailers with our WishList Plugin that’s integrated with WishList.com.
“Current Location”: Los Angeles, CA
“WordPress Origin Story”: Retailers constantly contact WishList.com, asking if we have a WordPress plugin to install on their store that also features their WishLists on WishList.com. It made sense to create exactly what retailers were requesting.
I think it’s being caught as spam because of so many instances of the domain.
This is not a system where we can tell it that it’s not spam, unfortunately.
Try editing it without including the domain in the text, just leave that to the website field. (as someone whose blog title is just the domain, I can sympathize, but the anti-spam system exists to protect us)
Thanks, James. But at this point, if I try to save, even without changing any fields from their current values, I get the error: “There was a problem updating some of your profile information. Please try again.” Could you please contact Samuel Wood (Otto) (@otto42) WordPress.org Admin and reference the same issue he’s fixed in the past: https://wordpress.org/support/topic/error-when-trying-to-update-wordpress-org-profile/
Thanks again for your thoughtful responses. Sorry about this!
Success, Samuel! Thank you. And than you too, James. We appreciate the help.
