# Updating Plugins – FTP Credentials

 * Greetings,
 * I’m currently having trouble updating the plugins in WordPress 4.9.4 since it’s
   asking me for my FTP Credentials. The thing is… I don’t remember my FTP credentials.
   My current domain name provider is GoDaddy.
 * With whom should I ask for help? WordPress.org Customer Support or GoDaddy Customer
   Support. To be honest, I just want to update my Plugins.

 * It sounds like a permissions issue. I would recommend calling into GoGaddy customer
   support and asking for support.

 * WordPress asks for credentials if it doesn’t have write permissions to your directories.
   This is usually an ownership or permissions issue. As noted, please contact GoDaddy
   support.

 * OK, then. I’ll contact GoDaddy and hopefully, that will fix my issue.

 * Hi Guys,
 * Just letting you know, that indeed it was GoDaddy who was able to help me out
   with getting the correct FTP Credentials. Thanks for your advice.
 * Although, I can now access or at least try to update and install plugins. It’s
   now giving me the following error messages:
 * “Update Failed: Unable to locate WordPress Content directory (wp-content)”.
    “
   Installation Failed: Unable to locate WordPress Content directory (wp-content)”.
 * I really appreciate your time and help. Sorry if I should be posting this in
