    Hi there,

I went in to try and do an update to fix some broken links + problems with pdf viewers/video/audio players, and started by updating the plugins I already had installed. The website layout changed so that it looks totally different and I can figure out how to access any of the other pages…. you can still see the original layout from the dashboard, so I’m not sure what happened or how to wind it back.
    See screenshots below…

  • If you don’t have any backups your host might so it may be a good idea to contact them and see if they can roll back your site to a time before you updated said plugins.

At that point it may be a good idea to…

    1) Start working with backups. There’s a ton of backup plugins in the WordPress repository that will automatically take backups for you at certain intervals. This is a crucial thing to get used to when maintaining any website.

    2) Bring your website down to local. Check out Setting up a Development Environment article to give you a rundown of what you can do. The idea is that this would be your test area. The things you do on your local site will not break your live website.

One you have a local site you can narrow down which plugin broke your website and possibly why with debugging enabled.

That being said, the two screenshots are vastly different. Could it be possible that a different theme than what was previously enabled has been activated? Maybe check under Appearance -> Themes ( in the left-hand navigation of the admin panel ).
