  • When I originally built my site I used a local version using WAMP. I can still access that without problems via my web browser.
There has since been quite a lot of development of the live site, and there are other changes that I need to test locally.

I had hoped that all I’d need to do would be replace all the old local files in the /wamp64/www/wordpress/ folder with evrything in the root directory of the live site. But if I do this I can’t access the local site through my browser. Which is probably obvious … but not to me. 🙂

What’s the easiest way to update the local version of the site?

  • Hello @eyeghoti,

Yes, you can /wamp64/www/wordpress/ folder with everything in the root directory of the live site and after then you have import your live site database to your local server and after then make the search and replace the URL with the local server.

I hope this will help you.

    Thanks.
The instructions I found for importing the database suggeted I should be able to find a .sql file in the (copy of the) root folder copied from the live site. There isn’t one.
Any suggestions on where I can find the .sql file or should I be looking for something else?
