[Resolved] Updating has broke slide shows

  • Hello. I love this plugin and have switched over to it from similar types. I’ve recently updated to 2.9 from 2.3 and then to 2.10. After updating to 2.9 I experienced a problem where all of my slide shows display part of a stretched image. In addition, the navigation is broken. I’ve attempted to fix the issue by regenerating thumbs, deactivating and reactivating the plugin. No luck so far. I am hesitant to roll back to the previous version for fear of data loss.

Here is my website. This is just one of the pages that uses the slideshow short code: http://indiebundle.org/racing-bundle/

    Hi,

Thanks for reporting this issue, I’ll have a look at it tomorrow. You can savely rollback to a previous version by downloading an older version from this page.

I have made a local copy of your website, so you don’t need to keep version 2.2.10 activated on your website.

    Best regards,
    Stefan

Thank you Stefan. We appreciate your hard work and excellent plugin!

Edit: The rollback was successful and the slideshows are back to normal.

    Hey there,

Somewhat relative to what epicvesselgames is experiencing.

A site of mine http://thepiercingurge.com.au/ now has an issue where the slideshow slide appears normal when logged in as an admin though appears odd when in the public logged out view.

Issues are the text is stuck aligned to the left, does not include the styles with the text and navigation is broken.

    Thanks for your time.

    Kind regards,

    Dominic

    Hi Epicvesselgames,

I have discovered that I’ve made the very dumb mistake of leaving in some test data. This caused your slideshow to be far too wide. If you download version 2.2.10 again (don’t use the one you’ve already downloaded), your slideshow should function as it should again.

    Best regards,
    Stefan

    Hi Dominic,

All stylesheets and javascript files are loaded onto your website without any URL data. Allowing URL data is essential for the slideshow to load its stylesheets. The navigation doesn’t show because the stylesheet isn’t loaded.

I think you may either be using a plugin that’s stripping all URL data if you’re not logged in as admin, or you have a caching mechanism that does this for you.

    Best regards,
    Stefan

    Hey Stefan,

I’ll have a look and see what I can do. Though these issues popped up with the 2.9 update so it could be related in some way.

Thanks for your reply and time.

    Kind regards,

    Dominic

    Hi Dominic,

The slideshow got dependent of this URL data in the update of version 2.2.8, in order to be compliant with HTML5 standards. Versions 2.2.7 and older should still work for you, as they do not require the URL data to be present.

    Best regards,
    Stefan

I had the same issue where my images would show up with each image right below the previous image. The images overlapped my existing text. This only happened when I updated to 2.2.10. I tried 2.2.8 and same issue? Had to download 2.2.7 to make it work???

Could I perhaps see your website, Pwoens?

Thanks. I think the problem may have been that the functional stylesheet hadn’t been included into the page, as it had been before. The slideshow’s slides will then be positioned below the one another.

I’ll try to find out what could have caused this to happen.
