Updating from older versions of WP & polylang

    When updating a clients site from wordpress 4.3.1 and polylang Version 1.7.12 both to current versions (4.7.3 + 2.1.2) all string translations are lost, everything is set back to default language.

    I know there was a compatibility issue but is there a way to update without losing translations?

    I also appreciate these are both old verion but any help would be grateful recived.
