    Today all of a sudden while blogging I kept on receiving this message when updating my draft.

    Updating failed. Error message: The response is not a valid JSON response.

    I literally cannot save my posts now.

    I have ssl on my site, I also checked the wordpress address and my site address and its the same.

    I checked the health of my website and there wasn’t any issues there either.

    Under my permalinks, I am already using post name as suggested in some other threads.

    Upon switching over to the classic editor I am able to save again, however now I cannot use any of those block features from the editor in the old classic editor which I need.

    This is super annoying as I cannot get any work done now.

    Hi, @thunder_god can you provide your webpage link?

    What you are facing is an error on the server side when updating a post. There might be several causes for that. What I would recommend is to:

    1. Disable all plugins and try saving a post, if it works – then enable them one by one to identify the problem maker.

    2. Make sure your SSL certificate hasn’t expired.

    3. Try switching over to a different theme and see if it helps.

    4. Update all themes/plugins you’re using (don’t forget to make a backup before doing that).

    If it still doesn’t help, you should open a network tab under “Inspect” in your browser. and look for an actual response but to do that you might need a developer help.

    Hi Mindaugas Jakubauskas, I ended up downgrading my wordpress version back to 5.2.4 because I was under a tight deadline and needed to finish my work but everything works again.

    It seems version 5.3 is very buggy and hasn’t had most of its bugs ironed out yet. I will stick with 5.2.4 for now until wordpress fixes these issues.
