 * I stated to noticed this messages immediately i updated to 5.3.2 (publishing 
   failed. Error message: The response is not a valid JSON response). same apply
   to saving.
 * please kindly help. it was not displayig on my previous version of wordpress

 * It’s possible that your theme isn’t working with The Block Editor or/and REST
   API is disabled.

 * Which WP version do you had previously? And are you sure that your theme is updated
   too?
 * If your theme doesn’t work with The Block Editor (it happens where there is some
   other page builder) usually installation of The Classic Editor solves the problem.

 * REST API also can be disabled in some Security plugin (if you have one), if so–
   it’s easy to find and enable it.

   theme.
    but it says PHP update required. can PHP cause this?

 * PHP should be at least 5.6 (it’s still working) or higher, i think better option
   right now is 7.3. 7.4 is current version, but not all hosting’s are supporting
   7.4 and it’s possible that not all plugins and themes ready to 7.4 also. PHP 
   guys started to switch versions very fast lately. But problem isn’t in PHP version.
 * In WP 4.9 was no The Block Editor, and in your version it is now. So, I think
   the answer is to install The Classic Editor and get on with it.
