Can you try another browser? Another computer? Profile editing is working fine for me.

I tried Firefox 16.0.2 and IE 8 on Windows XP, allowing cookies to be saved. The updated information is still not being saved.
I will try again on my home computer this evening.

I tried it again.
I got it to accept a new address a few times, but for some reason it will not accept a gmail address.

Okay, I tried some more experimenting.
The site will take gmail addresses, just not MY gmail address. Is there some rule in the server validation………that does not give a message to the user telling them what is going on…….that certain emails will be rejected? An address that failed, is on some sort of list mistakenly, etc?

I can’t remember why I think this but can you try again but with GMAIL in capitals?

I tried it didn’t work. There is some code server side or in the database that does not like my particular gmail address, but does not return an error message so I can do something about it.
Jan the reason ‘why’ is that case sensitivity is a workaround for the ‘this email is already in use’ debacle.

What about youremail+wordpress@gmail.com ?

That works.
It is possible that the email address I am putting in, is already in use. I used to have other accounts.
If that is the case, why am I not getting an error message on the front end?
How can I fix the problem?
Steve
Because our system is stupid and you really CAN’T use the email more than once.
In this case, you can just leave the + stuff in, gmail parses that for you 🙂 It’s the easiest solution, since the DB is monsterous.

Done. Thanks a ton for the help.
Do the people who make this forum have a bug tracker/ticket system to request that explanatory error messages be displayed on the front end in such situations?
It could save time and aggravation.
Thanks again for the heklp
