 * Hey there
    At my work we use wordpress for our website. We have an old version(
   3.5.1) and I can see the 4.1.1 update is available. I would like to update to
   this version, but we have an old theme (Grandeur) which now is outdated.. So
   I have no idea how an update will affect our theme? Will it even work with the
   new update? I would really appreciate if somebody can help me 🙂 Tenna

 * Hi,
 * backup everything and then make copy of your website in subdomain or wherever
   you can and try it.
 * Anyway If your version is so old, probably its not big website or something critical,
   so consider to build your website again with new theme and just migrate/copy
   content.

 * You can use the excellent [Duplicator plugin](https://wordpress.org/plugins/duplicator/)
   to quickly make a staging version of your site.
 * If the theme is too old for the 4.1, then you have 2 options,
    1. pick a similar looking theme (look at ElegantThemes.com for example) or one
       of the great [WordPress themes](https://wordpress.org/themes/), but pick a popular
       theme — more chances it gets maintained) and then try to make as few modifications
       using a [child theme](https://wordpress.org/themes/). This is the best insurance
       you have have against your current issue.
    2. pick an [HTML5 compliant blank theme](http://html5blank.com/) and build from
       scratch.

 * Note that you should not update WP all at once – see:
