• I installed WordPress 1.5 along with several other scripts through BlueHost’s Fantastico script library. While Fantastico alerted me of updates to the other scripts I had installed (phpBB and Coppermine Photo Gallery), it never alerted of a WordPress update, so I assumed that there were no updates. Today, I realized that I had somehow missed several updates. Now I am still running what I believe to be version 1.5, and Fantastico still claims that 1.5 is the current version. Should I manually update to each version released after 1.5 until I am running version 1.5.1.3, or am I not understanding something?

  • I believe the newer versions of WordPress have be manually added to Fantastico as it is slightly tweaked before installation. The folks are Bluehost may just not have gotten around to doing this yet.

That being said, with all the issues that are currently being discussed on the forums in regards to 1.5.1.3, you should probably just upgrade up to 1.5.1.2 and wait till the next release before upgrading again.

If you do upgrade your installation manually and Bluehost eventually updates Fantastico, it will tell you that your installation is out of date (even though it’s not) and if you choose to update the installation, it will blow away any changes/modifications you’ve made.

All that being said, Fantasitico is nice is getting software installed, but it assumes that you are not going to modify the software in any way through the revisions.

Sure everything looks fine on the front end. But when I try to access the backend for updates, changes, simple administration, I get the 500 server error.

    Thanks!
