• I ran a theme check on my 2011 theme and it found errors and gave me a to-do list. What do I do if I don’t know what to do and if reading all of that googly gook does not mean anything to my limited understanding of coding????
    Should I re-install my theme?
    Should I choose a new theme?
    I like my 2011 theme, but I don’t like that it is not up-to-date!
    I have the current 4.0.1 version of WP.
    Is there a WP babysitter who can walk me through this. I don’t want to change code I don’t understand or copy and paste code and then have a mess I don’t know how to fix?
    Regards,
    Patricia

    I don’t know how we can babysit you, you’re asking for support through a forum.

    Well, I’m stuck. I can’t get out of the editor because I get this error message after typing in the updates my theme needs: Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘(‘ in /home/loscabos/swimyellowduck.com/blog/wp-content/themes/twentyeleven/functions.php on line 159

    (159) add_theme_support(‘custom-header’, $args)( $custom_header_support[‘wp-head-callback’],

    (160) $custom_header_support[‘admin-head-callback’], $custom_header_support[‘admin-preview-callback’] );
    add_theme_support(‘custom-background’; $args); }

    My 2011 theme check said that on line 159 I was to replace “add_custom_image_header()” with “add_theme_support(‘custom-header’, $args0” AND I DID. The finish coding on line 159 is suppose to read:
    add_theme_support(‘custom-header’, $args) ($custom_header_support[‘wp-head-callback’], $custo

    Well, the $custo wasn’t there to begin with. I added it and still got an error. I removed it and still have an error.
    I can’t get out of the editor screen.

    Where do I go to get help. I can’t even figure out how to make the gravatar. I can get a book when I go to Barnes and Noble, but tonight I can’t get out of my wp 2011 theme editor until I correct my error.

    I will search that line of code or something and see if I can find out what’s up.
    Thanks for the response.

    I see I typed a “;” instead of a “,” on line 160, which doesn’t change my error.
    I’m going to see if I can load a new theme.

    You’re working on a child theme, right? Not on the code base as it comes from WordPress?

    I don’t know about the family tree of the theme. I just downloaded it when I set up my blog in 2011. It’s a free one, but it works for me.
    Dreamhost said I can get back into my blog by phymyadmin.
    They send an article/link, which I will read and pray that it gives me some insight.
    I have an old copy of my blog on my computer for some reason and I thought about uploading it and maybe overwriting files, which might restore so I can log in; however, it might overwrite things, so I am going to remain patient and seek understanding and deal with phymyadmin.
    Thanks for responding.
    I see you figured out the gravatar thing. I read those directions but I did not comprehend.
    I’ve made an favicon, but the gravatar doesn’t relate.
    I’m watching a Christmas show and then I am going to follow the link and get back into my blog by phymyadmin.
    Thanks – for responding.

    I did the phymyadmin thing and got my front page when I changed my theme, but that is all I got back of my blog. All of the links come up with this error message: (http://www.swimyellowduck.com/blog/)

    My problem is solved. I installed a new theme with the help of the Dreamhost team. I have yet to figure out why MailChimp is no longer working, but that’s the least of my problems after having my entire blog disappear after my failed attempts to update code on 2011 per my theme check instructions. All is well with the world tonight.

    Thanks to the Word Press community who tried to help me with my blog access dilemma I recorded the highest number of visitors to my Blog ever.

    I was befuddled as to why of all times, when my Blog was not linking to the data base, that I had 50 visitors rather than my normal 5-16.

    Suddenly it hit me – it was the support community at WP responding to my post for help on the forum. So to everyone who wanted to help me and visited my blog, THANKS and Happy Holidays!

    And a special thanks to Dreamhost, the best ever, and MailChimp!
