There’s no conflict that I know of. Have you tried removing WP Statistics and re-installing it?
When you say WP ‘hangs’ what do you see? Is it during the update process you just get a spinner or after it completes does your site never load?

During the update process which I initiate I just get a spinner in the headboard and the operation never never completes with bluhost. It seems to lock up the whole site as well so I have to reboot…Thanks
Probably running in to the script timeout.
No, removing and re-installing through the WordPress plugins page will not delete the data (you can delete the data through the Statistics->Settings->Removal page if you need to).
Of course, as always, we recommend backing up your database.
Sorry no luck . Deactivated all the plugins.Removed WP Statistics and Slimstat. Neither will reload now? Any thoughts please?
Try downloading the zip file from wordpress.org and then manually installing it.
If you have ftp/sftp access to your site you can try and upload it that way as well.
What happens if you install just Slimstat?

I also manually installed WP Slimstat successfully after this.Not yet sure about retained data will have to setup the program to see if that data has gone.

Everything working just fine.
It seems that I may have lost my Slimstat data though it maybe that I am not setting this back up properly though I have followed the instructions to retrieve it.
WP Statistics does a better job in this respect in, give or take, resuming from where it was deleted.
I just use basic data and I know the difference between a ‘hit’ and a ‘visit'(or)but it seems to me that these robots especially from China even though supposedly blocked do distort/inflate the results so I go back to my server for a comparison of stats.Its the old story lies,damned lies, and government statistics
I also suspect that when I am working on the site even though my activities are not meant to be recorded there is some inflation/distortion there also.
Robots are hard to detect unfortunately so some do get through.
