    Hi!
Today is the second time that the Jetpack update fails to install on my site. As a result the plugin is automatically deleted. When i try to install again i get the message that there already is Jetpack folder present.

Last time (previous Jetpack update) i had to manually remove the Jetpack folder and reinstall. This didn’t work immediately and i had to repeat 2 or 3 times.

Any idea what causes this and how i can easily remedy this?

By the way, i got an email from Jetpack that my site had been down for 8 minutes. That was exactly in the timeframe i was trying to update. I got the strange feeling that updating the Jetpack plugin causes my website to crash.

    Jetpack Mechanic 🚀

Jetpack’s plugin zip file is big, so if your hosting provider offers you limited resources the update might fail because of the size of the file.

That problem will be solved soon, as WordPress will soon support language packs for plugins. When that happens, we will remove all language files from Jetpack’s plugin folder, thus making the plugin folder a lot smaller. Folks using WordPress in another language will still get custom language files, but only those linked to their language.

In the meantime, I’m afraid there is no real work-around. You could try to delete the Jetpack plugin and install the new version via Plugins > Add new > Upload instead, that might work around your server limitations. If that doesn’t work either, a manual upload via FTP is your only solution I’m afraid.

Sorry not to be able to help you more.
