• I went to update to the newest version of WordPress but somewhere in the process something happened so that now, when I log in to WordPress to work on my site I get “Not Found, Error 404 The page you are looking for no longer exists.”

Weird thing is I can access my site but I can’t get in to edit my site. I keep getting that message when I try to login.

Please help as soon a you can. Thanks — cathy

  • Can you access the login page?

    Try:
    – switching to the Twenty Eleven theme by renaming your current theme’s folder inside wp-content/themes and adding “-old” to the end of the folder name using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder – from a fresh download of WordPress.

    – running the upgrade manually via wp-admin/upgrade.php

Okay I found the answer and, frankly, for those of you using GoDaddy I would suggest this fix before resetting plugins folder, uploading files, etc.

Go to GoDaddy and update to the latest wordpress version there. I did that and, voila, now I can get into my site.

    Thanks all

Having the exact same problems, currently undertaking the patch update via go daddy, fingers crossed! Thanks for the advice Cath, panic over hopefully!
