This morning I updated the WP Maintenance Mode plugin, and now the edit link under the appearance tab in my WordPress dashboard is missing. I can see themes, widgets, and menus, but not edit.

I sent a support ticket to StudioPress and Synthesis about this, and also posted a question in the StudioPress forum. But I haven’t received any help yet.

Could the plugin updated have caused this? There is nothing else I did. I’m only making simple changes to my website with CSS.

When I deactivated the plug-in, logged out of my dashboard, signed back in, the edit link was still missing. There has to be something with this update that caused this. I’ve been using WordPress for years and have never had this problem before.

I’d really appreciate some help. Thanks!!

My website is still in maintenance mode. I don’t want to share a public link, so let me know how I can be helped privately. Much appreciated!! 🙂

  • But the plugin don’t change this.
It is possible in WP to remove this link via constant; maybe you have change a other think.

But I have teted now on different customers installs, works fine, also the theme editor.

    Hi Frank,

Thanks so much for testing this for me. My hosting service Synthesis told me that, without any warning to their customers, they removed the WordPress editor from ALL customer WordPress dashboards. They said they did this because too many customers were creating PHP errors and shutting down access to their websites on the front and backend.

I’m so glad to know it wasn’t the plugin. This has been a very frustrating experience.

    Cheers.

    Thanks for feedback!
