 * I updated wordpress and didn’t do backup as new and didn’t realise I needed to.
   
   lost all posts on website although they are on my dashboards I have 1. deactivated
   and activated all plugins 2. changed permalink settings no change so gone back
   3. tried posting new post shows on front page but nowhere else

 * do you mean that you see old posts only in wp-admin ? you can check their status,
   if they are published or not.
 * about the second, where else should they appear?
