• PLUGIN Update …

Guys! – Wot the heck was that about?

Originally it took me the better part of a day going through the Facebook and Google APPS to get my secret keys, not fun; and not something that I want to do everyday.

    UPDATE TIME.
And I’ve got to trawl through the Facebook and Google APPS to find the secret Keys – AGAIN?? – Not funny! – And no warning that the wretched Update would lose them either?

At least the secret Twitter Key remained intact.

A BIT MORE WARNING NEXT TIME THAT THIS COULD HAPPEN : PLEASE! …

PS: Yes, I now have them all tucked away inside a text file on my machine, and also backed up on Dropbox as well, I’m not doing that again.

And let this be a warning to everyone else out there, – [ Lock-up Your Keys. ] – I think it’s a metaphor or something.

    L8tr …

Sorry about that. These kind of updates also happen once in the ages. This social login mechanism is more secure than the previous one.

The secret key options were not there in the plugin prior to the version 7.11. If the options weren’t there how could you lose these secret keys.
Sorry about the hassle again. Next time, if something like this happens, we will try to make it more swift.

    Heateor,
In the same vain, but my problem is even more serious. After the last upgrade, the plugin asked me to enter secret keys of Google and FB. Twitter was good already. My problem is not being able to find the keys, it is being unable to save the keys. It does not give you any message why it is not saving. It seems to be saving, but just refreshes back to blank. I have tried to do them one at a time. No luck. I also tried to capture the error in php log, nothing shows up there.

I just applied your latest update today hoping you may have addressed the issue. Basically I can’t use FB and G+ in my site now. What is your advice?

Heateor, I might add that the plugin would not inactivate either. I guess I would need to try it via cPanel file manager and rename this baby.

This is related to cache. If you are using any plugin to enable cache at your website, try clearing website cache. If you still face the same issue try keeping only our plugin active for a while to check if this makes any difference.

I might add that the plugin would not inactivate either

That’s unusual. You can rename the plugin folder via CPanel/FTP client.

I have been awaken this morning by numerous site owners telling me that the social login was not working anymore ant spent half of my day fixing. My situation is that Twitter ad Facebook are now OK but nothing to do with Google +. I have even recreated the a new API and updated the google ID on the social login dashboard but nothing seems to work, it keep displaying the same error:

    [error]
Specify GooglePlus Client ID and Secret in Super Socializer > Social Login section in admin panel for GooglePlus Login to work

I have also purged the cache….didn’t help

    What else can I do?

    Heateor,
Thanks for reminding me to check and clear cache, but that did not fix the problem. I bulk inactivated Akismet Anti-Spam, Comment Mail, Comment Rating Field, Custom Post Type UI plugins. I was able to inactivate and activate back Super Socializer then. I then was able to save the secret keys. Oddly it would not allow me to to activate back the above plugins. But I noticed a message from Super Socializer that I need to go do what is in Step 9 of your documentation page. I went to FB and did that and hit OK on the message that was displaying in WP Admin.

I was able to activate my plugins again. Here is what I am thinking: Super Socializer is not allowing some normal WP activities when it is displaying any notice in admin. Even my first issue may have been related to that. There maybe an element of conflict with one of the above plugins, but I am thinking only when Supper socializer is showing some admin notice. I might be wrong, but I wonder if that can ring a bell in your head.

Question: I noticed that your step 11 was telling us to enter App Domains our url with and without the www – we left that blank previously. It rejected my url with or one without www saying it does not match site url or something like that. Would that affect the authentication?

If clearing cache doesn’t help, please drop an email at support[at]heateor[dot]com regarding your issues.

@heateor Confirming that it did work somehow as off today after purging all cache from both website and chrome, installing all updates an some other general maintenance tasks…..we are back on track..!

    Many thanks for the help/guidance.
