I’ve received an email from Braintree advising that the plugun is using an old SDK version, and that we need to update before 1 May.

Will an update to the plugin be published before then?

    Hey @pedromorgan,

Thanks for writing to us about our plugin! I’d be happy to help out here. 🙂

I would like to share these details with our developers. Would you please share the content of the email here?

    Thanks,

    Hi Tamara,

Here is the text of the email:

    ————————————-

Braintree plans to update our root SSL certificate provider for API traffic on May 1, 2020. Our records show that you are using a legacy SDK version that will not be compatible with this SSL update. We’re reaching out to provide the information you need to ensure you can continue processing payments without any interruption.

    What’s changing?
An SSL certificate is a security technology that enables encrypted communication between a web browser and a web server. Braintree maintains this certificate to process requests securely. The SSL certificate update will go into effect on April 1 in the sandbox environment and May 1 in production. Integrations using the latest versions of our SDKs are compatible with the SSL certificate update.

    What action is required?
To avoid interruption to your processing, you must update your SDK version to the appropriate minimum version before May 1:
    Java 2.67.0
    Python 3.24.0
    Ruby 2.57.0
    PHP 3.8.0
Note: Node and .NET Server SDKs should not be impacted by these upcoming changes.
Where can I find more information?
For information on how to update your SDK version, see our developer docs.

If you are using a third-party shopping cart for your integration, we recommend reaching out to your shopping cart provider to ensure that they are using up-to-date Braintree SDKs so your processing is not interrupted.

If you have any questions, contact us.

Braintree PHP library version in the plugin appears to be 3.34.0, needs to be 3.8.0.

    Dear Sky,

    Hi @pedromorgan and @yiquan!

Pedro, can you please let me know which version of PayPal Powered by Braintree you’re using? As you noted, we’re using 3.34.0 in our plugin, which is much more recent than 3.8.0. (It goes 3.8.0, 3.9.0, 3.10.0, 3.11.0, etc).

yiquan, if we need to make a change to the library, we’ll certainly do so promptly. However, as I noted above, 3.34.0, which is what’s bundled, is much more recent than the 3.8.0 version that’s required.

Ultimately, I suspect this might have been an email sent to everyone to ensure they’re using up-to-date versions and, based on what I’m reading, I’m pretty sure our plugin doesn’t require an update. If it does, of course, we’ll do so well before the May 1 deadline.

Thanks for any other information here, folks!

    Julie 🙂

We haven’t heard back from you in a while, so I’m going to mark this as resolved – if you have any further questions, you can start a new thread.

    Thanks!
