Update to 8.0 causes “Fatal error: Uncaught Error”

Done this on 3 sites now, same result on each site.

That’s indeed a known issue with the update. Sorry about that! You can read more about it here:

The error should only happen once, as you update, and should not happen again after that.

Just updated 2 sites to 8.0 and both report:

Jetpack.com detected an error on the WPcom Self Test.

Visiting the Jetpack.com debug page on one site comes back with ‘Everything looks great!’OK but the other site has ‘Could not access your home page’, try again and get ‘Unknown Error’.

The site and account connections are both good on both sites.

I wouldn’t worry too much about it, it looks like a false positive. You can ignore this.

We’ve been working on making the self-tests more reliable but there are still times where you’ll run into such issues if the site is a bit too slow to respond. Sorry about that!

HI, having just updated to Jetpack 8 I too got the same error message:
An error of type E_ERROR was caused in line 270 of the file /home/sites/8a/3/3ee973aac8/public_html/wp-content/plugins/jetpack/vendor/automattic/jetpack-sync/src/Listener.php. Error message: Class ‘Automattic\Jetpack\Roles’ not found

My site appears unaffected. However when now going to my dashboard i cannot access anything and it looks like this, just a list and nothing functions properly and therefore I am unable to remove the jetpack plug in:
