# Update to 4.1 Error

 * When I try to automatic update to new 4.1 from 4.0.1 I get this error:
 * Downloading update from [https://downloads.wordpress.org/release/wordpress-4.1-new-bundled.zip…](https://downloads.wordpress.org/release/wordpress-4.1-new-bundled.zip…)
 * Download failed.: Failed to write request to temporary file.
 * Installation Failed
 * What can be done?

 * This is most likely a file permissions error on your hosting.
    Suggest that you
   do a manual update, any errors you have will inform you on what needs fixing.

 * Hi,
 * You can update your WordPress manually.
 * 1. Download the latest WordpPress zip file and unzip that file.
    2. Deactivate
   plugins. 3. Delete the old wp-includes and wp-admin folder and upload the new
   wp-includes and wp-admin folders. 4. Do NOT delete your existing wp-content folder
   just Upload the individual files from the new wp-content folder to your existing
   wp-content folder, overwriting existing files. 5. Upload all new loose files 
   from the root directory of the new version to your existing wordpress root directory.
   6. Don’t do any changes in wp-config.php file.
