• I’m running the blog http://thenikolaslistchannel.net (a video blog showcasing the best Vimeo short films, no commercial purpose) and I updated to WordPress 4.6.1 two weeks ago. The front end is fine. The problem resides in the backend WordPress dashboard. Since upgrading to WP 4.6.1, the edit page of the posts (previous posts that I had posted before upgrading to 4.6.1 and that still show up fine on the front) are blank in the text area. But, as I said, they appear fine in the front end. When I try to go to my media library, the whole page is blank under the title of the section.
This basically makes it impossible to post anything new on the site.
This website is hosted by OVH, standard hosting.
I’m working on Mac OS 10.11.6 and have tried on different browsers: Safari, Firefox, Chrome.
I’ve tried redownloading WP 4.6.1 via the dashboard and deactivating all the plugins.
    Nothing has changed.
Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated.

  • Hi jacksuki,

Did you made any code customization on wp-includes and wp-admin files? If there is any code customization then while updating to new version your customzied code will be lost.

    Thank you

Hi, jacksuki, & thanks for posting the link to your new thread. Please try switching temporarily to a default theme–they begin w/the word “twenty”, & then let us know what happens. I have some other ideas, but let’s try this for now & see where it goes.

BTW, is this a single- or multisite install? My recollection is that it was 1 of the questions I was going to ask, but I really wanted to see this be a separate thread first. That query was prompted, as was the theme change suggestion, by actually being able to view the site, so providing the site url is always really helpful. Thanks again.

Hi guys, thank you for your help, I really appreciate it.

    TO: Metallicarosetail
I haven’t made any customisation to any wp files…

    TO: Jackie McBride

    • I tried switching themes to the generic twenty themes when I first had this problem and just tried again now but same problem. This made me rule out any problem related to the theme.
    • I would say it’s a “single” install (although I’m not really sure what a multi install would be, this is not my field of expertise), it’s really just a basic hosting and set up with one database, one site, nothing more.

Jacksuki, are you running any caching plugins like w3 total cache or wp super cache? If so, please disable them, & please change define( ‘WP_CACHE’, true to false in your wp-config.php file.

2nd, please open your wp-config.php file & change wp-debug from ‘false’ to ‘true’. This is a security risk of considerable proportions, so change it back immediately, please, once you’re done. When you’ve changed it, please try logging in, editing a post, or using your media library & see if any errors are produced. If so, please copy-&-paste them here, making certain no user credentials like usernames & passwords are included (they really shouldn’t be in error messages).

Let’s see what that nets us.

    Jackie,

I’m not running any of those kinds of plugins and I don’t see any line of code ‘WP_CACHE’ in the wp-config.php file

I tried changing the wp-debug to TRUE and accessed the dashboard as you suggested, but no errors appeared, just the same problem of having an empty text area and no media library items displayed. I changed it back to FALSE.

I have exactly the same problem, my Media library is gone after updating to 4.6.1. Disabling extensions and changing theme does not solve the problem.

However, I did notice that there is a JavaScript error when I load the Media Library page, as displayed in Firefox’s console (copy/pasted at the end of this message).

The error is the same on Internet Explorer. The error does not appear on another WordPress 4.6.1 site I have.

Any help would truly be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Fabrizio
