Prior to the update, I was able to see users on my web stories in my real time google analytics section. I’m no longer seeing that now, testing in incognito on chrome. My analytics is still configured in the settings.

Hiya @slashedbeauty! Do you use Site Kit by Google to track your analytics?

Could you share your Site Health info with us. You can copy the data from Tools -> Site Health -> Info -> “Copy site info to clipboard”, or use this private form.

Hi, I do have Site Kit installed but I use All in One SEO to plug in my Google Analytics code, and I also have my analytics ID in the Web Stories settings. Like I said I was seeing them pop up in real time users before the update but not now.

Just resubmitted my site health to you.

@slashedbeauty Thank you. It looks like Google Analytics in the All in One SEO plugin is handled by MonsterInsights. To confirm, are you not seeing real-time traffic in the MonsterIngights dashboard, or in the Google Analytics dashboard?

In the google analytics dashboard. I can see all my other real time traffic but when testing on a web story, it doesn’t pop up. It was before.

@slashedbeauty Interesting. Realtime traffic displays in the Google Analytics dashboard when I checked a sample story. You mentioned your property ID is configured in the Web Stories settings, however, the Analytics ID is missing in the source code of your stories. Curious if there is something else involved and somehow the tracking snippet was removed.

Could you temporarily disable the AIO SEO plugin and let me know so I can check your story once more?

    Hi Luckyna,
Just disabled! Let me know when you’re done checking so I can turn it back on. Thanks!

@slashedbeauty Can you confirm Site Kit is still disabled?

    Disabled!

@slashedbeauty Thank you!! Now, can you enable AIO SEO once more and leave Site Kit disabled?

    Thread Starter slashedbeauty

    (@slashedbeauty)

    Done!

    (@luckynasan)

Now I can see your UA property ID in your Stories. Can you check if realtime traffic displays in Google Analytics dashboard?

    Thread Starter slashedbeauty

    (@slashedbeauty)

Yep– now I can see it too. So assuming that traffic since the update wasn’t counting in my analytics at all then, not just in realtime if the UA property ID was missing?

Should I keep Site Kit off, then? I used it to insert the Adsense verification code but now that my site is approved I don’t need it to continue monetizing Web Stories as long as my Publisher + Slot ID are in the plugin settings, correct?

    (@luckynasan)

@slashedbeauty Thanks for checking. Unfortunately, your assumption may be correct that the traffic was not counting in your stories during that period if the UA property ID was missing.

Could you please perform one more test?

Could you leave AIO SEO enabled, confirm the UA ID is configured in the Web Stories setting, then enable Site Kit and connect to Analytics property there as well?

    Thread Starter slashedbeauty

    (@slashedbeauty)

    Hi Luckyna,
It looks like I’m unable to have AIO SEO enabled while also connecting Analytics through site kit. I get this message:

Error: cURL error 2: easy handle already used in multi handle

An existing Analytics tag was found on your site with the ID UA-43825818-1. If later on you decide to replace this tag, Site Kit can place the new tag for you. Make sure you remove the old tag first.

    (@luckynasan)

@slashedbeauty Sorry for the miscommunication – you don’t actually need to connect Analytics via Site Kit as you’re already currently using MonsterInsights for tracking Google Analytics for the non-Stories content on your site.
For our final test, can you try enabling Site Kit (with AdSense only, no Analytics), enabling MonsterInsights with Analytics connected, and your UA code in the Web Stories settings?
