# Update on using subdirectories

 * The Events Calendar seems to struggle when WordPress is installed in a subdirectory
   rather than in the root folder for a domain. Problems include navigation using
   the datepicker, for example. The V2 views are particularly affected by this, 
   somewhere in the rewrite logic.
 * This is a big shame, because it makes it very difficult to test a new version
   of the plugin – often enough you would do that in an instance of WP in a subdirectory.
   I guess the answer is to create a subdomain and point that at the staging subfolder,
   but I’ve not tried that as yet.
 * Edit: Have just tried the subdomain approach, which works OK. I’ll have to follow
   that line when testing new versions in future.
 * What I’ve also found, which is comforting, is that The Events Calendar appears
   to work OK when my Site URL and WordPress URL are different. This is a tactic
   I use often enough to have WP in a subdirectory but still use the root domain
   as the user-facing URL.
