    Hi there,

On one of my sites I don’t get update notifications at all…
I know that there are plugin updates, but as said they don’t show up.

I tried reinstalling WordPress 3.8 but that didn’t help.

    Any ideas?
    Thanks!

  • How many WP sites do you have on this physical server (as opposed to with this host)?

I have a hosting package at HostGator, with three WP installations (but all seperate installations). And there will be a lot more installations on that server, I guess.

Having 3 installations with Hostgator does not mean that they are all on the same server. And this does sound like a server issue.

It is one hosting package… that is on the same server. The other two WP installations don’t have problems with updating.

But I’m open for ideas… so I’ll contact HostGator to see what they can do for me.

    Thanks!

HostGator can’t find a cause. The other WordPress installations on the same hardware are working fine…

    Any other ideas?

    Thanks,
    Jan

What plugins do you have installed? Have you tried:

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder and wp-config.php & root .htaccess files – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

Have you installed a plugin to manage notifications? Or have you enabled auto plugin updates?

Okay, I faced a problem like this in past. It was weird but now I know the reason.

Check if you have admin role, not the developer role. Cuz I was using a plugin which made me the developer of the website, and developer can’t update plugins.

Make sure that you’re admin of your WordPress, not developer or anything else.

    Hi there,

It is working again. I deactivated all plugins (22), and the update notifications were back. I activated 50%, and the update notifications were still there. After that I reactivated one plugin at the time and the update notifications stayed… in the end all the plugins were reactivated and I still had my update notifications. After that I updated 14 plugins… and all worked.

So I don’t know why and how, but I’m pleased it works again. I can live with a little voodoo 🙂

    Thanks for the help,
    Jan van Arkel
