Update not working

Hello,
I tried to import NewsML files from FTP and HTTP but the plugin just shows a white page and no content is being imported. I checked the nginx logs and saw that on HTTP import the index and the first file were accessed. But no further actions after that.
How is the plugin supposed to work?
