Update / Installation FAILED.
-
For a while now, I am always getting this frustrating “Update / Installation FAILED” notice.
Could someone explain why?

Can you explain what you’re trying to do when you get this notice?
Can you also share the exact notice? You can copy and paste the contents of the notice here or provide a screenshot of it.
I recommend https://snipboard.io for easily sharing screenshots – please follow the instructions on the page, then paste the URL in here. It works with Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge.
While you’re at it, can you also provide your site’s System Status Report? You can find it by going to “WooCommerce → Status” in your site’s WP-Admin.
Click on “Get system report” and then “Copy for support”. Once you’ve done that, paste it in at
.txt
file and upload that to Dropbox, Google Drive, or some other such service and then paste the link to that file here.@luminus,
I’m just trying to update to the latest version.Under the plugin list, Woocommerce will nicely say an update is available.
I gently press the Update button, and next thing I see, ‘Update Failed.’If I delete the ‘Update Failed’ installation, cause now in my mind, this version of woocommerce is damaged cause it has just failed to update, and then I try to install a fresh copy, I then get the “Installation Failed” notice.
This has been happening for a while now, and on different internet service providers.
Here is the Woocommerce report as per your request.

@luminus,
Anything?Hi @rodgerrmi,
Looking at your System Status Report, you already have WooCommerce 4.4.1 installed on your site.
I’m not sure why you’re seeing a notice asking you to update to the version that you already have. Perhaps you’ve got some weird caching situation going on.
I see you’re having issues installing the WooCommerce plugin on the Grocery ZM site. I suspect this is something that you’ll need to take up with your web host as I’ve been able to set up a brand new site just now and install WooCommerce without issues.
In the interim, you may want to look at installing the plugin via FTP as discussed in the Manually Install a WordPress Plugin using FTP section of this tutorial – https://www.wpbeginner.com/beginners-guide/step-by-step-guide-to-install-a-wordpress-plugin-for-beginners/
This tutorial about updating a plugin via FTP may also come in handy – https://www.wpbeginner.com/beginners-guide/how-to-manually-update-wordpress-plugins-via-ftp/
I think you haven’t clearly understood what I’m tryna say.
Anyhow, I will get in touch with my hosting company, and keep using this long FTP process in the meantime..
