[Resolved] update has stopped height:auto working on .promo_slider

  • hello,

    just updated and update has stopped height:auto working on .promo_slider. Now the only way I can make my slider have enough height to show the content I have to specify a height or min-height for .promo_slider. It’s late and maybe I am tired and overlooking something obvious here but it was working fine before the update?

    css below.

    Also the fade transition seems messed up now,it seems to fade slowly, then jump the last bit of the fade.

    Can anyone please help?

    .promo_slider {
    position:relative;
    display: block;
    margin: 0;
    width: 100%!important;
    height:auto;
    min-height: 200px;
    overflow: auto!important;
    background: url('images/background-texture-blue-paper.jpg') repeat!important;
    padding: 10px;
    -moz-box-shadow: 0px 0px 5px #ccc;
    -webkit-box-shadow: 0px 0px 5px #ccc;
    box-shadow: 0px 0px 5px #ccc;
    border-radius:10px;
    -moz-border-radius:10px;
    -webkit-border-radius:10px;
    -webkit-box-sizing: border-box; /* Safari/Chrome, other WebKit */
    	-moz-box-sizing: border-box;    /* Firefox, other Gecko */
    	box-sizing: border-box;         /* Opera/IE 8+ */
    overflow: hidden!important;
    behavior: url(/PIE.htc);
    }

    Can you provide a link to the page where the slider is? The css doesn’t mean much without context.

    Hi Micah

    here’s a page with it on, it’s in the right sidebar

    hi Micah,

    any word on this? I saw there was another update so updated but still having the issues above.

    @igloobob,

    Basically, because of how I changed the transition in the latest version, this broke the ability to customize the slider for this specific use case. Not really being aware of this particular use case, I will try to keep this in mind for future releases. Unfortunately, the nature of the transition is what makes it incompatible. Perhaps in a future release I will create a transition that is compatible with this particular use case.

    Basically, if you just remove your min-height, apply ‘height: auto;’ and make the .panel positioning relative, then the height adapts, but the transition doesn’t quite work right. Either way, without a min-height applied to the container, the lower portion of the sidebar would move up and down.

    What would be really helpful to me, is if you could describe in as much detail as possible what exactly you want to have happen. How much space should the slider take up vertically? Do you expect the minimum height of the slider to be the height of the tallest slide? If not, what would you expect those transitions to look like?

    Hi Micah,

    what is peculiar about this use case? Isn’t this as most people would use the slider, except I don’t use images?

    “Basically, if you just remove your min-height, apply ‘height: auto;’ and make the .panel positioning relative, then the height adapts, but the transition doesn’t quite work right. This didn’t work, it just collapses the entire panel to leave a strip of the background colour that is the height of the corner radius.

    What I want is for the height to adjust so each slide is as high as its content, so the sidebar content beneath will shift up and down, this is fine. It is how I had it working great before I upgraded. Is it possible to go back to the previous version of the plugin as that worked perfectly for me? Do you have a download of it still?

    Thanks

    So just to answer your last question what I want is:

    • slider grows height to accommodate current slide content. This height will therefore change for each slide.

    • transition is a smooth fade, or a slide would be fine too if easier.
