Support » Fixing WordPress » Update from 3.4.2 to 4.2.2 broke slider

  • I’m hopeful that I’m posting this in the right place. I have an existing wordpress site that had been running wordpress 3.4.2. I was asked to make some edits to the site, and did so, pulling the site down to my local machine (windows 7/wamp server/dreamweaver).

While working on the site, I noted it was very out of date in terms of the wordpress version, so I updated to 4.2.2. After doing so, the slider on my home page broke. I did some research, and found that after the update to 3.5+ the version of jquery included was upgraded. One user noted he deleted the jquery folder from his updated site located in (wp-includes/js/jquery) and replaced it the jquery folder from the site pre-upgrade. I emulated this, and on the version of the site running on my home box, it works great. Slider was back in business, and nothing else seems broken with the downgrade to the jquery version.

After making all the edits I wanted to make, I went ahead and exported the database of my local version, and uploaded all the site files to my web host (hostgator). Unfortunately, on the web server version, the slider does not work, and I’m not quite sure what’s the difference? The database and all the files are the same, so I’m unclear why the difference in behavior is happening.

You can view the test site here and the live site here. Does anyone with more experience have any idea what I’m doing wrong or how I screwed up? Thank you in advance for your time or any help/suggestions you may have here. If this is posted in the wrong place/not appropriate, my sincere apologies.
