Update from 2.0 to 2.2.1

  • I’ve been running 2.0 for ages and not bothering to update but the time has come to move to 2.2.1

So what is the best way of upgrading?

sorry if this sounds like a silly request, but does somebody have any simple instructions on how to upgrade WordPress 2.0 to 2.2.1? I’m finding WordPress’s instructions incredibly really confusing..

I’ve downloaded the latest update, but everytime I try to update, it doesn’t work – there is a code error. My blog is still new, so I haven’t lost any data, so what I’ve done is uninstalled and reinstalled it through Cpanel (which has version 2.0). I can’t get 2.2.1 to work – any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thank you.

what, specifically, is confusing about the 5 steps listed here?

    http://codex.wordpress.org/Upgrading_WordPress#How_to_Upgrade_in_Five_Steps

Step 1: Backup Database Tables and Files including .htaccess

    Step 2: Deactivate Plugins

    Step 3: Overwrite Files

Step 4: Run the upgrade script

Step 5: Reactivate Plugins one by one

Did you check that your host supports the versions of php and mysql need for 2.2?

That’s got to be step 0.0 in the codex right?

Cool, thanks, I got it working. WordPress instructions aren’t very clear – especially the back-up your files section.
