# Update failed while trying to update plugin

 * Hi there,
 * I’m trying to update some plugins. However, it says “Update failed: -1” and “
   Update failed: Briefly unavailable for scheduled maintenance. Check back in a
   minute”.
 * I have deleted the .maintenance file from the root directory and clearly the 
   page cache already but when I try again, the same happens.
 * How can I fix this?

 * Do you have the plugin Astra Starter Templates installed? If so, it’s blocking
   updates. Deactivate it, then update it. That will fix the update issues. You 
   can then re-activate it and update your other plugins normally.
