Support » Themes and Templates » Update damaged blog; can I reverse an update

  • After clicking the lit tab that said I had an update available my blog went out of alignment, even in Stats mode, and left this type at the top of the page:

Warning: include(install_pl.php) [function.include]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/americanfiyah/ on line 35

Warning: include() [function.include]: Failed opening ‘install_pl.php’ for inclusion (include_path=’.:/usr/local/lib/php:/usr/local/php5/lib/pear’) in /home/americanfiyah/ on line 35

How do I return it to normal? Should I avoid updates in future?

It’s probably just a conflict between either a plugin or theme functions and the new version.

Try manually resetting your plugins. If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.

If that does not resolve the issue, access your server via FTP or SFTP, navigate to /wp-content/themes/ and rename the directory of your currently active theme. This will force the Default theme (WordPress 1.5 – 2.9.2) or the Twenty Ten theme (WordPress 3.0 and higher) to activate and hopefully rule-out a theme-specific issue.

Thanks for answering. I had a tech deativate the plugin and everything returned to normal. I’ve since removed this plugin BUT definitely miss the Top Post detail that Google Analytics does not provide. Would you know if StatSurfer will be updated soon so that I amy use it again?

You’d have to contact the plugin’s developer about that.
