# Update Could not create directory?

 * Hello,
 * I have to following problem when updating … All is fine I checked all permissions
   and all should be fine? Any fix?
 * Downloading update from [https://downloads.wordpress.org/release/wordpress-4.3-no-content.zip…](https://downloads.wordpress.org/release/wordpress-4.3-no-content.zip…)
   
   Unpacking the update… Could not create directory. Installation Failed

 * You may not have the permissions correct for the root folder or one of the folders
   it’s trying to create. If you are using a default install of LAMP and have terminal
   access then all you need to do is issue this command as root. chown -R www-data:
   www-data /var/www/
 * This will change the owner of the web folder to www-data and allow the site permission
   to adjust any file within the default web directory.
