As the subject notes, I also had my site simply give me a blank page after the ‘upgrade’, so I ssh’d in and modified the plug-in directory name to gain entrance, then uninstalled the plug-in. However, I’m noting that my .htaccess file is mostly made up of what appears to by ‘iThemes’ additions. Can I safely delete all the entries within the ‘# Begin iThemes Security’ and ‘# End iThemes Security’ tags?

I’m always nervous when a plug-in doesn’t remove all traces of itself during the uninstall process….

It’s too bad this plug-in has caused all the trouble it has. It was a great product and nobody can really complain at the price! However, a plug-in that breaks a site so easily becomes expensive at any price when the administrator is forced to patch it up again.

I backed up .htaccess and deleted all the stuff between the iThemes tags (there was plenty of it).

I was worried that some basic settings might have been included between the tags that would have been ‘returned’ to htaccess with a clean uninstall of the plug-in. However, so far no apparent concerns, so I’m going to assume the deletion hasn’t broken anything else.
