I have had a few times now – Woocommerce update available
I usually wait a day or 2 and then I FTP copy my website , in case a problem occurs – like this morning update still available , around 7:30 UK BST time
Then I ftp copied the website – which can take a few hours – once happy with the copy I thne went back to do the update – and the message had GONE
no auto updates , set – i have a log of all actions taken on the site Simple Historty and no log of any update carried out
Version 9.0.1
as i say this is about the 3rd time its happened in recent weeks
One possibility is that your hosting provider might be running automatic updates without your knowledge. You should check with them to make sure.
While we do sometimes enforce auto-updates, we only do this for security updates. WC 9.0.1 wasn’t a security update, so we didn’t push for a forced auto-update.
I wish I could help more, but hopefully, this gets you going in the right direction to get some further insight/information.
looked at log , i updated to 9.0.1 on 20/06/2024 22:18:37 BST
It appears the update was released on the same day.
I’m curious, did you update it manually, or did it update automatically? Also, does anyone else have admin access to the site, specifically to your ID?
Also, are you using managed WordPress hosting? Did you contact with hosting provider to see whether they do any updates on your site or not?
I was on 9.0.1 – but had the message yesterday – new update – and still there this morning , so i FTP copied website and when finished – looked at plugins and the update flag had just gone
The disappearing update message you’ve been seeing could have been due to a cache issue. Sometimes, the server or browser cache might not reflect the real-time status of your WordPress site, causing such inconsistencies.
In any case, you did the right thing by manually copying your website via FTP before attempting the update. This is a good practice to ensure you have a backup in case anything goes wrong.
Furthermore, since you confirmed that no one else has access to your site and your hosting provider doesn’t perform updates, it’s a bit puzzling. I would recommend clearing your server and browser cache before checking for updates next time.
If you continue to experience this issue, please don’t hesitate to let us know. We’re here to help.
To clear server cache on WordPress, you may be using a plugin. If so, you can usually find the option to clear cache in the settings of the plugin. For example, if you’re using a plugin like W3 Total Cache or WP Super Cache, you can find the clear cache option in the plugin’s settings.
If you’re not using a plugin, your hosting provider may have server-side caching. In this case, you would need to reach out to your hosting provider’s support for assistance on how to clear the server cache.
