• Exactly the reason I fear updates.

The latest update broke my two contact pages.

Everything was cool but after the update, I have two configuration errors on both my contact forms.

Apparently, “From” field no longer accepts “[your-name] <[your-email]>” syntax. It says to enter a valid email from my domain but why??? Why would a sender send me an email with an email from my domain???

Then there’s the “Subject” field which was perfectly fine with “[your-subject]” until this update. But that I understand. I managed to rectify it, or so I thought.

Anyhoo, two contact pages. One rectified with the recommended measures and the other did not. Both do not work anymore regardless. Ugh. Somebody help!

@mikeshouts The solution is to use a “local” email address in “From” and Reply-To: [your-name] <[your-email]> in “Additional Headers”.

What’s the problem with the subject field exactly?

I appreciate @takayukister prompt response. But I have checked the configuration errors resolution page. Followed the resolutions as @galbaras has indicated. The error is indicated as gone. As for the subject field, I also followed the resolution and the errors are gone.

Here’s the thing. I have two sets of forms. Both have the same configuration errors after this latest update. The resolutions were applied to one form.

As of now, both forms aren’t working, whether or not it has errors. I am really lost.

I’ve just tested the contact form. It’s strange without the Submit button, but seemed to work. I haven’t had a confirmation message, but please check your end.

BTW, if you don’t use Flamingo, I’d recommend it as a way to capture submissions even when email fails and to debug other stuff.

Hi, I just carried out a test with the latest version and it works for me. I did receive a notice to validate the contact forms in my site. I followed the instructions and the contact form was validated. Then check to see what had changed and could not detect any changes. I went to test the form and no errors where displayed on my test site. This confirms that the latest version of the plugin works in my site.

Then there’s the “Subject” field which was perfectly fine with “[your-subject]” until this update. But that I understand. I managed to rectify it, or so I thought.

In my test site I am using the following code, which works without an issue.

    <label> Subject
        [text your-subject] </label>

And for the From field I used the following code.

    [_site_title] <test@sitename.com>

I just thought of sharing this with you.

    Kind regards.

@galbaras “It’s strange without the Submit button” yes, it does have a submit button, and no it does not work. I receive no message from you 🙁

@mbrsolution It does not work for me. It said the message was sent by I received nothing on my end. Even though I did exactly what the resolutions instructed as you have done.

    I am totally lost.

@mikeshouts, check to make sure the email did not land in your spam box. Also you might need to use an SMTP plugin to help you further. You might also like to check the log files in your server to see if they can reveal more information.

    Kind regards.

Strange… I got a green confirmation box. Try installing Flamingo to confirm this.

I agree that an SMTP plugin can help improve delivery.

Looks like you have a plugin that adds the captcha field and blocks the submit button. See what happens when that’s deactivated. Could be a compatibility issue with the latest version of CF7.

Also, for everyone’s benefit, just use reCAPTCHA v3 instead 🙂

    (@mikeshouts)

@mbrsolution Thank you but I have checked. Not in the spam either. I am going to use an SMTP plugin to see what happens.

Thank you much @galbaras I will switch to reCAPTCHA v3.
