  • I’m afraid this could be something different as none of us here complained that content is missing. On my side it was just new posts not being inserted into database, nor tags/categories/comments, if they contained any non-latin characters. If you are actually missing data, get your latest backup and restore it and while doing so disable automatic updates. Then setup a controlled staging environment for testing the updates and checking the consequences.

In two days there will be WordPress 4.2 available for download, so it would be a good idea to have your sites fixed till then.

vloo, awesome, many thanks for a solution

Vloo, I got problem too with the latest version (4.1.2). Mine is when you go to Media Library Grid View (list view works fine) – it shows as completely empty now. I’ve tried replacing wp-includes/wp-db.php with the older version but nothing happens 🙁

If the issue is just the grid view, my guess is you have issues with JavaScript, as grid view employs some ajax for loading the pictures. If you are tech-savvy enough to check your browser’s JavaScript console for any errors, this could give you a lead to the conflicting plugin (or the theme) that’s messing with the scripts.

I have the same as davek0974 i think – WP site (growingsupport.co.uk) all running fine until the auto update of 4.1.2 – now the site only shows homepage but has lost menu and all media, pages, posts etc. When you login to WPadmin all show empty.
    I have backed up.
Do you think we should wait until 4.2 or try to roll back?
    Thanks in advance

Hi Everyone… I have updated to 4.2.1 three times! It keeps reverting back to 4.2. I get an email from Wordfence security that I must update! Very strange. This has never happened with an update before. Has anyone else experienced this?

Thanks davek0974 – Yes vloo very kindly helped me out. All the pages had been changed to posts.

I’m also experiencing issues since the 4.1.2 update. I can no longer edit my posts on my dashboard because the content appears blank (even though it appears fine on the website). Writing a new post is okay, but as soon as I click “publish”, the content again appears blank on the dashboard, even though it’s published fine on the website. Editing has now turned into a huge hassle. I’m thinking Vloo is correct, and it’s the new security patch that’s blocking some features from working properly.

I don’t know if I will mess with this just yet. But I’m definitely hoping for a fast update that will fix these issues!

LisaWP1, if your posts are in English without other language characters you might be experiencing another issue. Can you actually see text formatting buttons on your visual editor when trying to edit a post, or they are also all gone? If buttons are missing, then most probably you’re just experiencing JavaScript conflict with a plugin or a theme.

In most cases it would be better to start a new thread for your problem, as other people might be able to help you better.

    2.1.4 – everything works fine

    LisaWP1 and vloo:
That is EXACTLY the issue I’m having: my Dashboard doesn’t show any of the available plugins, and there is no “edit page,” etc.

Is there any way to fix this? I’ve tried moving my plugins and theme, but that doesn’t help.

Hey guys, I figured it out. I had an emoji plugin that was apparently causing this. I’m assuming the new WordPress update triggered it though; suddenly making this plugin incompatible. I’ve disabled the emoji plugin and it works perfectly like before. Now I’m looking for a new emoji solution though …
