Hi Merrill,
Our plugin actually generates its own dynamic sitemap, independent of Yoast (the Yoast integration is for page meta).
The sitemap is named “upcp-site-map.xml” and is normally located in the plugin folder, which would normally be found at: “/wp-content/plugins/ultimate-product-catalogue/upcp-site-map.xml”
The “XML Sitemap URL” option isn’t for indicating your Yoast sitemap URL, it is for specifying a base URL for the products in the sitemap generated by our plugin.
Thank you! I completely misunderstood that. So, to get the catalog pages indexed properly I did the following:
1.) In settings – SEO: entered the path to the sitemap as “http://www.galaxy-scientific.com”
2.) Found the link to the UPCP generated xml sitemap that you mentioned
3.) Submitted this link to google search console as an additional sitemap
Does that look like the correct steps?
Hi there. I have changed the permalink base from the default ‘product’ to a new word ‘goods’, but in the upcp-site-map.xml it still says (product) after saving: http://mysite.com/product/nougatbits/
Why is that, and how can this be fixed?
The problem is that the xml map otherwise will show urls that don’t exist.
Hi Viridium,
The option to switch the permalink base was added after the sitemap feature was added, so thanks for letting us know that it needs to be updated to reflect the new option. We’ll put out an update this week so that the correct permalink base is included in the sitemap.
