• Hi guys, I wanted to report this as its a small thing but a big thing when editing large websites and using the page builder. Basically if you are editing a row and you are in the editing screen and on Visual all works well and if you click “Done” all appears fine which is great.

On some occasions one will want to toggle to the text editor and not the visual and if you click “Done” then the entire formatting of that page is brought together and well your row is pretty much destroyed. You have to remember basically that if you edit in the text editor for whatever reason (fixing a link, or changing an image tag or something) to toggle back to the Visual editor before clicking “done” or your formatting will be screwed up.

This is not the native behaviour of course of the visual and text tabs if you were never using page builder and just writing a standard post you can toggle between visual and text editor and update the post no problem and the formatting is kept. So I just wanted to report this as it would be massive update if this could be made like the standard wordpress way. Hope I have explained this correctly its very easy to reproduce. Thanks for your time in advance.

    Hi there,

Many thanks for the ‘heads up’ 🙂

We’ll run some further test this end, and put a fix into the next release,

    All the best,
    Jamie

Thanks Jamie, it actually will be a great fix because I have actually clicked “Done” on a number of occasions now and had to double back over work forgetting I needed to click “done” while in visual mode so to speak. Look forward to the update.

Hi jamie, is there any news on an upgrade here as essentially passing a site over to a client in its current form means a disaster is inevitable and basically leads to alot of extra work being repeated especially if the page is complex. I believe this is a pretty crucial update so I am waiting on this before progressing as I myself have actually fallen into this trap on 2 occasions with very large builds.

Actually, could you also give me an example of what you are putting in there 🙂

This will help us replicate and fix,

Anything really – for example just put in say a three column shortcode and if your in the wrote editor the entire screen gets bunched up into one long line which when you have alot of text in each column and say 5 or 6 rows down a page is essentially a disaster – especially if you have links and so on and so fourth in there. It just bunches everything up like a css minifier would for css.

Hi Jamie, any solution to this yet? Same thing occured again here on a site and well it literally sets back work by hours and hours when of course the idea of this plugin is to ultimately save you time it tends to do the opposite now. Really need an answer on this if its being implemented or not as clients always toggle between the editor and visual display and well it wipes out all the settings and therefore means we end up doing a page 2 or even 3 times in some cases.

    Hi,

Yes we think we’ve fixed this – im hoping to get a release in the next couple of weeks. But we need to test thoroughly first.

Hi there, I just had a client toggle to the text editor view and back to pootle page builder and essentially wipe out the entire page layout which was very time consuming to rebuild from scratch. So I have to ask once again is this feature being released? If its not something you guys are focused on then I would rather move onto a different plugin because its madness that a simple toggle between the visual and text editor would wipe out the entire page setup.

    Hi,

We’re 100% focus on this plugin at the moment. We’ll be rolling out a new version in the next few weeks – we waiting as we are close to releasing our ‘live editor’ and we’d like to release the page builder first and then the live editor close after.

Look forward to the update Jamie as this has cost me now on a few occasions unfortunately. Toggling between the TEXT and PAGE BUILDER tab should not result in total lose of a layout.
