I also am getting notifications on new users added, it might not be only those two activities, that is only what I have been doing as I have been noticing this.

And it occurred to share that I did add the code recommended on this page: https://betternotificationsforwp.com/documentation/compatibility/support-plugins-front-end-forms/ which did actually help in my case where I am using Gravity Forms and also the Gravity Forms Pods plugin.

However the notifications getting sent out for updating posts (even though the one notification I have is only for “New Post Published”) are triggered when I update post content from within the WP admin on the Edit Post page.

ok. I am back. Through more troubleshooting I have found it is the code in the link above that, although it does create notifications as I need when a Gravity Forms form is submitted, it also seems to be that code that is causing notifications to be sent with other actions such as every time I hit the update button on a post or add or a new user. I confirmed this by removing that code from my functions.php and testing updating a post and no notification. With that code in my functions.php, I get notifications for everything, seemingly.

Would love your help with this please. Thanks so much.

    Hi @big-dave,
    Thanks for your message.

Let me do some investigating and see what I can do to make this code snippet more robust. It may not be possible as the GF add-on is quite complicated however, I’ll see what I can do.

    Thanks,
    Jack

    Hi Jack,

Thanks. I really appreciate it because otherwise I will have to move to another solution which is way more complicated. I like your plugin.

If it helps to have access to my test site, please let me know.

hope you had a good time off over the holiday.

    Hi Jack,

I have a request on this. I have been waiting to hear back to launch a teacher’s website where the main purpose is to gather teachings as they are recorded and send out notifications to students when new teachings are posted. Given the problem in this thread, is there a workaround in the meantime (i.e. some code to add to functions.php) you could share that would limit notifications only to New Posts / or otherwise force other notifications not to be sent out? With such a modification I could take the site live because New Post notifications are the only ones needed.

    Thank you so much Jack,

    David

    Hi @big-dave,
Unfortunately, I don’t have any more news at this time.

The Gravity Forms add-on may require a significant amount of time to investigate given its complexity and it’s possible that it’s only viable to support via an add-on in the future. If you’re interested in helping to fund development of this, we can certainly discuss this more but at the moment, I’m limited as to what I can do.

If I have any other info for you though, I’ll update this thread.

    Thanks,
    Jack

    Hi Jack,

I wanted to thank you for your support and understand what I had asked was going to be too much of a customization for my needs. Also wanted to let you know I found another solution via another plugin which works perfectly for my needs so no need to follow up with me. Cheers.

    Hi @big-dave,
Not a problem – thanks for reporting back.

Out of interest, what plugin did you use to achieve this?

    Thanks,
    Jack
