• I have a lot of unused images on my site I think. I want to delete them, they are the default images created by wordpress. I’m not sure thought which images are being used and not used. I was thinking I could delete the unused images through FTP. I see the default images created by WordPress have something like 150×150 in the file name among other image dimensions. I’m just not sure which ones are not being used. I wonder if anyone had some thoughts on this. If I can figure out if a certain dimension image is not being used I could mass delete through FTP.

  • On the media page, did you try the dropdown ‘All Media Items’ and selecting ‘Unattached’? You could then just checkbox All to get rid of them easily. Unless you are not wanting to do it this way?

Hello Yes I looked at that. Do you know if unattached really means the image is not being used? Last night I downloaded my wordpress files and then cross checked them and deleted the images from old products through ftp i downloaded a few thousand that way last night. right now what i have left are the default images created by wordpress that are not being used and trying to figure out which sizes are not being used.

I’ve never had any issues with that. I guess it would partially depend on how you have images placed in posts. I’m sure there is a plugin for this if you still need it.
