Support » Fixing WordPress » Unused front-end source of the plugins

  • Hi developers and wordpress users,

I have been using wordpress for 6 years and I have been developing some plugins and themes I notice that many plugins add their source the website even if they are not used. For example, you installed a timeline plugin. This plugin used just for one page. But this plugins’s javascript and style source included for every page.

In my opinion, it causes optimization problems for page speed.

WordPress developers should find a solution for wp_head and wp_footer action and filter hooks.

  • Hey there! There are ways to check if something is used for example with has_shortcode() or is_page() for specific pages etc. Usually theme developers that require extra plugins already do these kinds of checks if you are referring to these kinds of checks.

The thing is though that if you preset functions like these simple users might not be able to alter the outcome of their website and that would be frustrating and probably that’s why they are left to be used if needed only.

You need to feed this back to the plugin authors in question.
