 * After several months trying to build a directory with this plugin, I had to give
   up. Too many things just don’t work, making it unsuitable for a professional
   site. I’m surprised by the high ratings, but after reading the negative reviews,
   it makes sense, they ask users for 5-star reviews in exchange for support.

 * _Reads review._
 * This part got my undivided attention.
 * > they ask users for 5-star reviews in exchange for support.
 * Where do they ask for that?

 * Hi [@kodon](https://wordpress.org/support/users/kodon/)
   Thank you for sharing
   your feedback. We genuinely appreciate all kinds of user insights, both positive
   and critical, as they help us improve Directorist every day.
 * It’s true that after releasing version 8, we encountered some technical challenges
   that unfortunately led to a few negative reviews and user dissatisfaction. However,
   we’ve resolved those issues, and the plugin is now stable and running smoothly.
   If you’re still experiencing any problems, please don’t hesitate to open a support
   topic on the forum. We’d be more than happy to assist you in resolving any issues
   on your website.
 * Also, just to clarify, we never ask for reviews in exchange for support. That’s
   not our policy, and frankly, it wouldn’t make sense, as it could easily result
   in negative reviews. Our support team is committed to helping all users, regardless
   of reviews.

 * [@kodon](https://wordpress.org/support/users/kodon/) , I understand your frustration,
   but I’d like to share a different perspective. This plugin is currently the most
   used in the directory niche with 20,000+ active installations, even surpassing
   some plugins that have been around for decades. That’s probably why it has so
   many ratings and reviews.
 * Have you had a chance to contact their support team? According to reviews, users
   are generally very happy with the support team’s responsiveness and willingness
   to help.
 * Since it’s such a big powerful plugin with tons of features that directory site
   owners normally look for, it’s natural that there might be occasional issues.
   But in most cases, the support team resolves them quickly.

 * [@jogodosshu](https://wordpress.org/support/users/jogodosshu/) Nope, it’s actually
   very poorly built under the hood. Being the most popular doesn’t mean it’s the
   best. But thanks anyway for your input.
