    Hello

I have downloaded Relevanssi at deardot.com, but don’t think I have anything there which wasn’t before: do I need to set it up? Do I need to index my site? Am not seeing where or how – sorry for being a bit dense

Once you activate the plugin, you should see an alert asking you to build the Relevanssi index. You need to do that in Settings > Relevanssi. Once you do that, you should be fine.

    Hello,

Thanks for your reply – I can’t see the alert; tried deactivating and reactivating (even deleting, and uploading; the latter doesn’t work because the former doesn’t seem to be possible)
Also, by building the Relevanssi index, are you site mapping?

    What to do please?

The plugin is not installed correctly, it seems. Just try to delete it all away (via FTP, if nothing else works) and try re-installing from plugin repository.

    Hello Mikko,

    Thanks for your reply again!

I just got around to re-installing, got invite to build my index, did: I’m really pleased with the results (One can now find relevant information on my blog!)

However, I got a bit confused with the “stop words” option; both why I’m stop wording the most frequent words, and also how (I thought I’d clicked on the icon next to them (the red circle?) as advised to put them on the list, but I don’t think anything happened?)

Also, how do I go about it if I want to continue building the index please?

The most frequent words are the least useful for searching. Those are the words that don’t really mean anything. See Wikipedia for further explanation.

In general, you don’t need to add stop words in addition to the default stop word set. That’s quite enough.

If you need to continue building the index, push the “Continue indexing” button on top of the settings page.
