Support » Plugin: Migrate & Backup WordPress - WPvivid Backup Plugin » Unsupported Collation Type Wipes Database

I was migrating a site from a server using MySQL to one using MariaDB and during the restore, all the WordPress tables were dropped and none of the tables could be created since the original tables were using a newer collation type.

I don’t need anything done, but this might happen to others. I had to alter the collation types for all the tables in my original database and reinstall WordPress on the destination server. If there was a way to check whether the collation type is supported before dropping the tables, it would be nice.

Hi @dstapler, thanks for your feedback. Could you provide us with your original site database by email? We tried to test our plugin on your database to fix this issue. BTW, would you tell us which version of MariaDB you are using on your target site? Thanks in advance.
