Hi Ipstenu I have created a new topic. Here is what I get when visting the new site I created from the network admin dashboard.

    and the dashboard: tenafter.me/a/wp-admin

and here is my .htaccess file

    # BEGIN WordPress
    RewriteEngine On
    RewriteBase /
    RewriteRule ^index\.php$ - [L]
    # uploaded files
    RewriteRule ^([_0-9a-zA-Z-]+/)?files/(.+) wp-includes/ms-files.php?file=$2 [L]
    # add a trailing slash to /wp-admin
    RewriteRule ^([_0-9a-zA-Z-]+/)?wp-admin$ $1wp-admin/ [R=301,L]
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -f [OR]
    RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} -d
    RewriteRule ^ - [L]
    RewriteRule ^[_0-9a-zA-Z-]+/(wp-(content|admin|includes).*) $1 [L]
    RewriteRule ^[_0-9a-zA-Z-]+/(.*\.php)$ $1 [L]
    RewriteRule . index.php [L]
    # END WordPress

    Previous question:

I have just set up WorPress to work for MultiSite, but can't access the dashboards of sub-folder blogs and the theme is not formated. I went http://codex.wordpress.org/Create_A_Network#.htaccess_and_Mod_Rewrite and copied the sub folder example into my .htaccess file on my server and it is still not working. I have been at this for hours and can't seem to figure it out, help would be much appreciated.

  2. Contact your host and ask if httpd.conf has AllowOverride set to all

Yes, they said it is enabled. They also said they don't support wildcard sub domains but if I am correct you don't need it enabled for sub folders for example http://example.com/sitename.

  4. You are correct.

Tell them "The .htaccess file isn't being read completely. It's not parsing the more complex rewrite rules used in MultiSite" and send them a link to http://codex.wordpress.org/Create_A_Network

But basically the .htaccess isn't being read correctly. It can't follow the wp-admin redirect (that would be this line RewriteRule ^[_0-9a-zA-Z-]+/(wp-(content|admin|includes).*) $1 [L] by the way) so it's not working.

They said they don't support WordPress multisite. I guess I will have to find another host that allows it . Unless there is a work around.

  6. Well that would do it! :/ No, no workarounds if they don't support it.
