Unread message notification on header

Just installed the plugin and found it cool except one little thing:

When the Unread Message notification on header appears, an user will be forced to click on it and actually open the message in order to get rid of it so that they can get to the header menu. But the thing is there are times people don’t really want to check the message right away and instead need to click on header menu item for more pressing issues. So forcing users to open the message first doesn’t seem quite user-friendly. I’m wondering if there are ways we can perhaps add a Dismiss link in the notification bar so the user have the option to dismiss it for now and check the message at a later time.
