Support » Fixing WordPress » Unpublished pages do not show in 'Parent' dropdown

  • I am using the pages function to create chapters in larger works for fiction archives. I have added a plugin to create tags, and another plugin to give my pages an rss feed. But I am also setting up pages to publish in order, into the future. they need to publish under their proper parent page, and I can’t set that until the parent page is published.

    How can I fix this?

  • Bump. This is such an odd oversite on the admin side.

I’ve tried a couple of workarounds. I tried publishing the page immediately but setting the status to “private.” to no avail. Unless the page is live and public, it does not show up in the adminside dropdowns.

I’m having the opposite issue. All of my draft pages (some 300 of them) are showing in the dropdown menu, but at the top. So you have to scroll through all of them to get to the published site structure underneath. This seems really counterintuitive.
I’m interested in anything regarding this issue.

@probablepossible: are you using the latest version 3.0.1 ?

    Any progress here?

I need to make a child of a parent that’s not yet published, but this appears to be a non-option.

I see a patch in this ticket:

…but I’m not sure if it’s current or not or what. My php is pretty limited…
